THE SHOW

THE KENTUCKY WATERCOLOR SOCIETY Presents AQUAVENTURE 2019, a juried water-based media show.

The rules of the show are that artists can enter up to 3 paintings, but only one painting per artist can be accepted into the show. The work must have been completed in 2014 or later, and must be original - conceived and created by artist. No nudes are accepted. Paintings must be in water-based media (watercolor, acrylic, gouache).

Opening and Award Reception are on Saturday March 16, 2019, from 3:00-5:00pm. The Award Ceremony will be at 3:45pm. The show remains open from March 16, 2019 until May 3, 2019 at 5:30 pm. The business hours of the James Bourne Gallery are on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 1:30 pm-5:30 pm. Someone who has a genuine difficulty viewing the show during normal Gallery hours may ask for a viewing at a different time by calling Mr. Bourne at 502 727-1517.

 

AquaVenture 2019 Awards
 to be Presented by The Kentucky Watercolor Society are:

1st Place, $300; 2nd Place, $200; 3rd Place, $100; and 2 Honorable Mentions, $25 each.

All paintings are for sale.

Awards to be presented by the Preston Art Center are:

Preston Art Center Award #1, a $75 gift card; Preston Art Center Award #2, a $50 gift card, and Preston Art Center Award #3, a $25 gift card.

Daniel Pfalzgraf is the Juror of Acceptance and Awards. He is a curator and occasional artist who has been exhibiting work for the past twenty years. He is currently the Curator for the Carnegie Center for Art & History in New Albany, Indiana. Pfalzgraf was also previously Director of The Green Building Gallery, Director of Media Services at B. Deemer Gallery, and an assistant preparator at the Speed Art Museum (all in Louisville, Kentucky) and Media Coordinator at the Lowe Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. He has also independently curated exhibitions under the name LoCAL.gallery.

Pfalzgraf’s art is represented by Swanson Contemporary in Louisville, KY. His latest series of works are blind contour drawings on paper painted in with oil paint and mixed media that explore themes of attraction, hunting, and collecting.

Pfalzgraf received a Master of Business Administration degree at Indiana University Southeast (2018) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Murray State University (1999) in sculpture and drawing.
